iMovie exported to QT File FAILS to convert to AVI/WMV

In exporting an iMovie file to a QT format - is there a certain compression type I should choose (Sorenson 3?) to enable it to then be converted to AVI or WMV? Or shouldn't it matter?

I've already attempted MANY conversions from these QT files to AVI/WMV with VARIOUS codecs and have not had ANY success yet! During the process I keep getting the file format not supported error (even though I've already went through the trouble of removing QT v7.2 and installing QT v7.15.)

My goal is to achieve conversion to both wmv (v9 professional) and AVI (Indeo 3.2) formats with screen size 640 X 480. Both codecs are available on my local drive, except that the wmv 9 prof codec is only an option with AVI conversion (why not wmv conversion as well?)

Curiously enough, I WAS able to convert to a MP4 format. But further conversions of even this MP4 file have been unsuccessful.

What is wrong? Any help appreciated!

i am having no success converting qt files to windows. i have installed qt 7.2. does not videozilla convert qt files?
