Cannot extract audio from .mpg video file.

When I attempt to extract the audio from a .mpg video file I get a message saying "the file is not a video file or the format is not supported".
The video file was created with a ADS Tech DVD Express DX2 USB video capture device.
I've had no problem importing the .mpg into Cyberlink Power Director.
I'm running Dexster on a Gateway with a Intel iCore 5 processor and 8G of memory.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1.

Hi,

Please send the mpeg video to softdiv@gmail.com for inspection purpose. The mpeg video could be mpeg-2 video encoded with special type of encoder. Thank you

Hello and thanks for the reply.
I'd be happy to send you the video, but it's about 1.75 Gb in size.
Would just a piece of it do?
