Dexster 1

If you've ever fancied yourself as a sound editor, but have hidden behind the excuse that the software costs too much, then hide no more. Dexster is a fully featured editor for all things audio.

As well as standard fade effects, sound adjusters and a volume normalise facility, there are some advanced audio effects. The flanger, Vibrato and Delay buttons add an interesting edge to your recordings. As well as these there's a range of filters and an automatic gain control button to clean up your tracks.

Adding these effects, and editing in general, is just a matter of clicking and dragging to select a section. You can play back the selection with cue and review controls to make sure you've got exactly the right bit.

Dexster can read MP3s as well as WAVs files, and will let you convert one to the other quickly. However, should you need support for just about every audio format, you will need to upgrade to the latest version. You can do this for a 30 per cent discount by visiting www.softdivshareware.com/upgradedexster.html . The $28 asking price also entitles you to a year's worth free upgrades.
